Our Ministers

 

Reverend Bernette L. Jones

Reverend Bernette Lee Jones is the Senior Minister of the One God, One Thought Center for Better Living Inc. (OGOT) in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been involved in New Thought Christian ministry for over 17 years. She was Ordained as a Lay Minister at the Unity Center for Christianity in Baltimore by the Reverend Cathy Gram in 1992. In 1994, she became one of the founding core members who organized OGOT as an affiliate of the Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon's Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL).

Reverend Bernette served in various capacities during the 12 years of developing OGOT, including several terms as board member, strategic planning member, capital development committee member and on staff as Assistant to the Minister.

She was licensed as a Teacher by the Johnnie Colemon Institute of UFBL in 2000. She completed ministerial training and was ordained by The Reverend Dr. Mary Tumpkin, current President of UFBL in 2003.

Reverend Bernette is the second senior minister in the 12 year history of OGOT, appointed in November 2003 following her mentor, The Reverend Ann H. Jefferson, the first senior minister of OGOT. Reverend Bernette appointed the Reverend Eric Ovid Donaldson as OGOT Associate Minister in 2003, to provide outreach and support for the development of UFBL study groups and satellites in the Mid Atlantic Region. The region now has study groups developing in Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware.

Reverend Evelyn Hill-Coleman

The Reverend Evelyn Hill Coleman a UFBL Minister is a founding core member of the One God One Thought Center (OGOT) For Better Living. She is on staff at the center in the capacity of Business Manager and she also serves as Assistant To The Minister. She has served, for several terms as a member of the Board of Directors, Strategic Planning, Usher Leader, Bookstore Manager and Events Coordinator. In addition to making countless other contributions to the growth and well being of the center, Reverend Evelyn is also a JCI teacher who specializes in teaching the Bible. She teaches classes both in the classroom and online for the newly established Universal For Better Living (UFBL) online classes; she is also in the process of developing a Spiritual Learning Center, and she is the coordinator for the ministries at the center.

Reverend Evelyn is a Native of Chicago where she was introduced to the New Thought Movement over 34 years ago, via Christ Universal Temple in 1973, under the leadership of The Reverend Johnnie Colemon (then known as Christ Unity Center). It was there where she received her spiritual and religious training and received her teacher’s license in 1986.

She is a graduate from Chicago State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She is committed to her spiritual growth and in line with the Vision/Mission of OGOT she has dedicated her life to being a vessel for God to use to teach people how to recognize the indwelling presence of God and how to live a healthy, happy, peaceful and prosperous life . Evelyn has a devoted husband, Fray Coleman, who provides his continuous support and is the wind beneath her wings.

Reverend Jeannette Gatewood

Reverend Gatewood is a native Baltimorean and has attended One God One Thought (OGOT) since 1995 as a student in the Johnnie Colemon Institute (JCI) Better Living classes. She received Spiritual Baptism at OGOT in 1998 at the Orchard Street Location. Since becoming a member of OGOT, she has served as choir member, Strategic Planning committee member, Treasurer on the OGOT Board of Directors, became a JCI licensed teacher , Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL) licensed minister, and continues to serve as leader of the Membership Development committee for OGOT.

She has spear-headed the development of the JCI Intensive mentor program, development of the Spiritual Foundation discussion groups, and is currently developing BRIDGES, a New Thought spiritually based case management program to add to OGOT’s Pastoral Care services.

Reverend Gatewood is dedicated to the spreading of New Thought throughout the region and shows her support by assisting the Ministerial staff in nurturing satellite and study group development and teaching JCI Better Living classes in Richmond, Virginia. She plans to teach in our current and other developing UFBL satellites and study groups as they join our region. She serves as one of OGOT’s Bible teachers and facilitates Spiritual Gifts and Passion Assessment workshops.

Reverend Gatewood holds a degree in Nursing and has practiced her nursing career in many capacities. Her major focus has been serving and supporting healthcare needs of the community as case manager in home health, RN/Program Director and Health Director in five Adult Day Care facilities, as Resource/Outreach Nurse in West Baltimore community school and church screening programs. She has also served on the Board of Directors of several community associations in the urban Metropolitan areas of Baltimore as well as the Program to Prevent Childhood Lead Paint Poisoning.

Reverend Judith Hokhmah

The Reverend Judith Hokhmah is developing a Prayer Chaplain Program for One God One Thought Center. She also serves as the Associate Minister at the Divinity Center For Better Living located in Washington, DC. Reverend Judith is a founding faculty member and a curriculum co-developer of the Spiritual Life Certification Program in the D.C. metropolitan area. As a Spiritual Life Coach she has coached ministers, professionals and community groups through transformation of processes into a conscious awareness that leaves them healthy and inspired to live life successfully.

Rev. Hokhmah uses her accumulated knowledge from such institutes as the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary ministerial licensure program, Temple University’s B.S. Cum Laude degree in Education, and Columbia University’s M.A. in Human Developmental Psychology degree to serve children and parents in the public educational arena as well.

Reverend Judith’s initial intention, as a Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL) licensed Teacher and Minister, is to utilize her Prayer Ministry training (under the tutelage of the Reverend Christina Knox Whithall) by training and developing a corps of Prayer Chaplains under a Pastoral Care Ministry complete with a training/facilitation manual. This manual will be unique to the Spiritual Truth and Teachings espoused within the Universal Foundation For Better Living.

As the mother of seven children and ‘Nana’ to five grandchildren, she is also a passionate advocate and practitioner of prayer/meditation practices, Chi Gong, therapeutic massage, and other healing arts.

Reverend Judith can be summed up in the affirmation, “I know that I Am a spiritual being abiding in the wholeness of God.”
